What hinge size do I need for my gate?
As a general rule, hinge length should be at least 1/3 of the gate width. For a 1.2m gate, use 200mm (8") hinges. For heavy gates (over 50kg), use 250-300mm (10-12") strap hinges. Always use a minimum of two hinges per gate.
Can galvanized hardware be used with pressure-treated wood?
Yes, hot-dipped galvanized hardware is compatible with all types of pressure-treated lumber. The zinc coating provides a sacrificial barrier that protects the steel from copper-based wood preservatives. Avoid using electro-galvanized hardware with treated wood.
Do you supply complete gate hardware kits?

What is the difference between malleable iron and steel hinges?
Malleable iron hinges are cast and then annealed for toughness. They are more corrosion-resistant and better at handling shock loads. Forged steel hinges are stronger for their size but may be more susceptible to corrosion if the galvanizing is damaged. For outdoor use, malleable iron is preferred.
